Jinying Transformer / Markets / Nigeria
Grid in Nigeria: 11 / 33 kV HV, 415 V LV, 50 Hz.
415 V is available on this series' low-voltage winding.
Nigerian distribution networks run at 50 Hz on 33 kV and 11 kV, with 415 V / 230 V at the customer. What the transformer must carry with it is a different matter: SONCAP documents to clear customs, and NEMSA inspection before the installation is energised. Settle both before you ask for a quotation.
| Nominal voltage | Operational range in the Code |
|---|---|
| 33 kV | 31 – 34.98 kV |
| 16 kV | 15.2 – 16.8 kV |
| 11 kV | 10.45 – 11.55 kV |
| 415 V | 390.1 – 439.9 V |
| 230 V | 216.2 – 243.8 V |
Distribution companies (DisCos) are licensed to distribute on networks from 240 V up to 33 kV. The Rural Electrification Agency’s technical standards give the system frequency as 50 Hz ± 1 %.
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) harmonised technical standards, version 2.0 of July 2025, state for distribution transformers:
The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA, NEMSA Act 2015) states that no electrical installation may be put into use or connected to the public supply network unless it has been tested, inspected and certified by a NEMSA electrical inspector.
In practice the transformer is inspected as part of the installation. Ask your DisCo or contractor which factory test reports the inspector wants to see, and include that in your enquiry.
