Product lines published for this voltage

PLN’s SPLN D3.002-1:2020 sets maximum losses (Table 3), Dyn5/Yzn5 vector groups and a 7-step tapping range. The losses in our published S11 20 kV table are above those maxima at every common rating, and its Dyn11 vector group and tapping differ. A transformer to the PLN specification — standalone or inside a compact substation — is designed and quoted separately. Guide (English): what SPLN D3.002-1:2020 specifies →

400 V is available on this series' low-voltage winding.

Specifying a distribution transformer for Indonesia

Indonesian networks run at 50 Hz, and the state utility PLN writes its own specification for distribution transformers (SPLN D3.002-1). Check which edition your tender or PLN unit calls for, and what certificates it asks you to show, before you request a quotation.

Frequency and PLN distribution voltage

ItemValue
Nominal frequency50 Hz (Grid Code, ESDM Regulation 20/2020)
Three-phase distribution transformers in SPLN D3.002-120 kV primary, 400 V secondary
Single-phase distribution transformers in SPLN D3.002-120 kV or 20/√3 kV primary, 231 V secondary

The 2007 edition of SPLN D3.002-1 covered oil-cooled (ONAN) units up to 2,500 kVA, three-phase and single-phase. The 2020 revision (SPLN D3.002-1:2020) covers three-phase ONAN units only; single-phase transformers were removed from its scope. Use the edition named in your tender.

Construction details to check in the PLN specification

  • Vector group: the 2007 edition of SPLN D3.002-1 names Dyn5 and Yzn5 for three-phase units (and YNyn0 where seven tap steps are used). This is different from the Dyn11 that many IEC-based catalogues list, so confirm it in the edition you are given.
  • Vector group in the 2020 edition: Yzn5 up to 160 kVA and Dyn5 above 160 kVA on resistance-earthed MV networks, YNyn0 on solidly earthed networks. HV tapping has seven positions, +2 / −4 × 2.5 %.
  • Single-phase units have a 231 V secondary; three-phase units have 400 V.
  • Altitude, impedance, tapping range, loss limits and the kVA series are set in the standard itself. Ask your PLN unit or EPC for the edition and quote against it.

SNI mark and ESDM product certification

Electrical products that need the SNI mark and a product certificate are listed in Annex I of ESDM Regulation 7/2021 (standardisation in the electricity sector, which replaced Regulation 2/2018). The list covers household-type equipment such as circuit breakers, switches, socket-outlets, luminaires, fans, conduit and lamp holders. Distribution transformers are not on that list.

Certification under that regulation is Type 5 and asks for the company registration number (NIB), tax number (NPWP) and an ISO 9001:2015 certificate.

The Ministry of Industry keeps its own list of products with mandatory SNI. Ask your customs broker to check the HS code of your transformer against the current list before shipment.

What our published ratings cover

  • Our published S11 20 kV losses are above the SPLN D3.002-1:2020 Table 3 maxima at every common rating, and its Dyn11 vector group and tapping differ from the standard. As published it does not meet the PLN specification; a PLN-specification unit is designed and quoted separately (see our English guide to SPLN D3.002-1:2020).
  • Oil-immersed S11, 20 kV class: 30–1600 kVA, 0.4 kV secondary, Dyn11, tapping ±5 % or ±2 × 2.5 %, 50 Hz.
  • YBW compact substations: HV 10 / 11 / 20 / 22 / 33 / 35 kV (highest voltage Um 12 / 24 / 36 / 40.5 kV), 50–2500 kVA, LV 380 / 400 / 415 / 433 V.
  • Dyn5 or Yzn5 vector groups, 231 V single-phase secondary, and 20 kV units of 2000–2500 kVA: quoted on request to the PLN specification.
  • Dry-type units are published for 6–15 kV; 20 kV dry-type is on request. Power transformers are published for 33 / 34.5 / 35 / 38.5 kV, 5000–31500 kVA.
